Polyurethane spray foam insulation has many benefits and is superior to other types of insulation in many ways. Spray foam has a much higher insulation rating (R-value) than that of traditional fiberglass batts, and it is sprayed in liquid form which gives it a unique advantage in tight spaces such as rim joists and crawl spaces. The liquid foam is sprayed into cavities and then expands to fill the entire void. Spray foam insulation can also be used in place of traditional batt and poly insulation to fill entire walls achieving a much higher R value than is possible with traditional insulation. An added benefit to this is the strength that spray foam adds to the walls once it has cured. In some cases it may increase the strength of the walls by 200% or more!
